Indications

• Treatment & prevention of anaemia due to iron & folic acid deficiency.

• Prophylaxis and treatment of iron and folic acid deficiency during pregnancy.

• Folic acid supplementation in infants with low birth weight, prolonged diarrhoea and infection.

• Other conditions with increased folic acid requirements such as alcoholism, hepatic disease, haemolytic anaemia, lactation, oral contraceptive use and pregnancy.

Dosage

• Adults: 5-10ml daily

• Children 6-12years: 5ml daily

• Children 2-6years: 2.5-5ml dally

• Infants 5-10kg: 2.5ml daily

• Premature babies: 3mg of elemental Iron/kg body weight daily.
