Maxiclav 1G inj

Maxiclav 1g injection is used for the short-term treatment of susceptible infections including:

  • Upper and lower respiratory tract infections
  • Genito-urinary tract infections
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Bone and joint infections.

Composition

  • Amoxicillin 1000mg
  • Clavulanic acid 200mg

Dosage

Based on amoxicillin:

> Neonates & Premature infants: 25mg/kg every 12hrs

> Infant up to 3months: 25mg/kg every 8hrs

> 3 months – 12yrs: 25mg/kg every 8hrs, increased to 25mg/kg/6hrs in more severe infections.

>12yrs and adults: 1g 8hrly by IV over 3-4mins. Can increase to 1g 6hrly in more severe infections.

Surgical prophylaxis:

Adult: 1g at induction, with up to 2-3 further doses of 1g/8hrs if increased risk of infection.
